About

Hi, I’m Tristan.

Hi, I'm Tristan, a UX Researcher and UI Designer based in South Florida. For the past 8 years, I've been helping teams get to know the people they build for, and turning those insights into experiences that just make sense.

Portrait of Tristan Machado

Researcher by trade, curious by nature

My path into UX actually started in marketing. I spent my days studying audiences, building personas, and digging into engagement data to understand why people did what they did. That curiosity pulled me into UX/UI design, and then into research, where I've found my home.

At American Express, I was brought on to help shape the research process for the Membership Rewards team. I built research frameworks, ran studies from early discovery through usability testing, and later took on design work too, helping redesign an outdated internal servicing portal used by customer care teams across multiple markets.

Most recently, I worked with Cardinal Health as a UX Researcher, talking with people from 20 healthcare and pharmacy organizations to understand how they sign in to and access the tools they rely on every day. Earlier in my career, I helped agencies and startups with website strategy and redesigns, and between full-time roles I've taken on freelance web projects, always designing with mobile in mind.

I do my best work on collaborative teams, and I genuinely enjoy helping teammates try new research methods and grow.

Outside of work, I'm a big cat lover and a proud cat mom of two, Mochi and Khali, who teach me daily lessons in curiosity and patience. I'm also a tennis fanatic and try to get out on the courts at least twice a week; it keeps my problem-solving and pacing on point. And when I'm not on the court, you'll probably find me soaking up the South Florida sun at the beach.
